R. Christian Hulburt
Chris Hulburt is a trial lawyer specializing in medical malpractice and personal injury cases on behalf of injured families. He is a partner in the San Diego law firm, Hulburt & Bunn, LLP. Hulburt is the Immediate Past President of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, the President of the CASD Foundation, and the Treasurer of the Civil Justice Research & Education Project. He served on the Board of the Consumer Attorneys of California for 10 years, including terms as Vice President and Treasurer, and received its Presidential Award of Merit in 1999, 2000, 2002, and 2003.
Hulburt was named the Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2000 for his success in a medical malpractice case on behalf of a 40 year-old African-American single father who needed bilateral lung transplants as a result of years of negligent care. In 1996 and 2002, he received the President's Award from CASD, and in 1998, was named the Consumer Advocate of the Year. In January 2005, Mr. Hulburt was honored by California Senate Resolution for his leadership in the consumer attorney community.
Hulburt is a 1988 graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, where he competed to the national finals of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Mock Trial Competition, and at graduation received the American Board of Trial Advocates Award. Now he regularly coaches the USD Trial Team, and teaches trial skills to second and third year students in the USD Clinical Practicum.
Hulburt is married to his high school sweetheart, Annalee. Together they have four children. He coaches youth basketball, plays basketball in the local attorneys league, and scuba dives off the local beaches whenever possible.
