Michael Thorsnes, a native San Diegan, finished his trial career with the defense of a $2 Billion claim against the largest  employer in the state – Pacific Bell.  Other large cases include the largest non-intervention Qui Tam settlement, Jack-in-the-Box against Vons for lawsuits arising out of the e.Coli outbreaks, the Roman Catholic Bishop of San Diego in 20,000 school districts in a cross-claim against Reader’s Digest, defending Kyocera International, and representing Johnny Carson.

At USD Law School he was a member of the Law Review, President of the Student Bar Association, and headed an organization of all law students in California.  After law school he joined Higgs, Fletcher & Mack and made partner in four years.  In 1978 he and Vince Bartolotta formed their firm, shortly thereafter adding Mickey McGuire and Mike Padilla as partners. 

Mike has been in The Best Lawyers in America since 1991; was designated one of the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in California in 2001 and 2002 by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals.  He has received the Daniel T. Broderick Award from the SDCBA, two Outstanding Trial Lawyer Awards and a Special Recognition Award for Consumer Advocacy from CASD, the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Author E. Hughes Career Achievement Award from USD.

He and his wife Carole have two children (Erik and Kaily) and seven grandchildren.  He divides his time between San Francisco and San Diego and is Of Counsel to the firm he and Vince founded 25 years ago.
