Medicare is playing a more active role in civil actions, from workers’ compensations claims to tort cases. New reporting obligations for third parties and their carriers are coming on line requiring claimants/plaintiffs and carriers to rework the front end of claims handling procedures, while assuring Medicare's recovery under the Secondary Payer Act is moving to center stage in resolving workers’ compensation and civil claims/actions. Understanding how Medicare Set-Asides (MSA) work is becoming more vital for all civil practitioners handling workers’ compensation claims, civil tort cases and crossover actions. This is a quickly changing area of the law with significant developments over the last year.
This seminar is designed to build on the MEDICARE/MSA seminar held last January 2011 by SDCBA. The panel includes practitioners representing claimants, plaintiffs, carriers and employers, as well as MSA professionals. We will get you up to speed, answer your questions and provide you essential documents to allow you to confidently deal with Medicare and MSAs.
