Family Feast! @ Monarch School - a CASD Outreach Event

Date: Monday, September 25, 2017
Location: Monarch School
Address: 1625 Newton Ave., San Diego CA 92113
Time: 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

On Monday September 25, CASD's Community Outreach Committee will provide dinner for the students and families of the Monarch School*, a public school which exclusively serves and educates children impacted by homelessness and poverty (see more about the school below). There are an estimated 200 children and their families who look forward to receiving this dinner.  This will be CASD’s third year – photos taken from the preceding two years are shown on CASD’s FaceBook page; the volunteers serving those families would tell you the experience of being there was an enriching experience and that those families could not be more grateful or appreciative of our effort.

*Monarch School provides services which exceeds the scope of any traditional public school in the County. Not only does it carry out the same standards as any other public school in San Diego's unified school district, Monarch School also provides healthcare, clothing and food, support and enrichment programs which include an after-school program, tutoring, counseling, expressive arts therapy, and family assistance.  You will not find a school like this anywhere else in the county or country and we couldn't be more honored to be a part, even if only a day, of this inspiring organization.

  • We need 15-20 volunteers to help prepare and serve food and clean up.
  • Monetary donations to help cover the cost of food, beverages, paper goods and cutlery.(please be generous; what is not spent on the food, is then donated to the school for the purchase of clothing and sundry items, among other things).
