CASD was founded in 1960 to protect the Constitutional right to trial by jury for all. Today, over 50 years later, CASD is more committed than ever to this endeavor. ATTORNEY MEMBERSHIP in Consumer Attorneys of San Diego is limited to attorneys who are members in good standing of the State Bar of California, of good moral character, engage in any field of advocacy and are committed and devoted to the concept of the fair trail, the adversary system, the jury system and a just result for the injured, the accused and those whose constitutional and other legal rights are jeopardized; and do not, upon application for admission to this Association or after being admitted to regular membership, prosecute criminal cases or regularly defend insurance companies, manufacturers, governmental entities, common carriers, businesses, or public entities in claims, including but not limited to, subrogation, personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, employment, construction defect, and consumer class action.
OUT-OF-STATE MEMBERSHIP is available to any person who is a member of the Bar of a State other than California, who is qualified to practice before the highest court of such other state, and who otherwise meets the requirements for Regular membership in this Association.
LAW FIRM STAFF (FORMERLY NON-ATTORNEY) MEMBERSHIP is available to any individual who is dedicated to the mission of this Association and is employed by or associated with a voting member of this Association. It includes legal assistants, paralegals, legal secretaries, and other firm staff. Law Firm Staff Members may not hold office in this Association but may serve on committees and task forces.
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP is available to any Law Student or Law School Graduate who is not associated with attorneys or firms which prosecute criminal cases or regularly defend insurance companies, manufacturers, governmental entities, common carriers, businesses, or public entities in claims, including but not limited to, subrogation, personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, employment, construction defect, and consumer class action.
